Helping to keep Singapore’s emergency services connected

The team has been keeping particularly busy in Singapore over these last few weeks, after once again proudly sponsoring this year’s Critical Communications World in May.

This annual get-together of all the main players in the public safety and private mobile radio communications arena was this year held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore – a spectacular location.

The Product Management team took on the task of running a half-day workshop at the event, looking at ‘Implementing next generation in-building public safety networks using TETRA and LTE’. The session covered the basics of in-building public safety coverage and the challenges that environments such as metro systems, high-rise buildings and sports stadiums can bring. With a mixture of group discussion and presentation material, Ingo and Moti shared their insight into some of our high-profile customer case studies, including the world’s tallest building – The Burj Khalifa, the Washington Metro in the US, the longest tunnel in Australia – the Brisbane Airport Link and our recently announced nationwide TETRA network in Singapore itself.

Of course LTE was still a hot topic at the event, and with the US leading the way with their FirstNet initiative, it is great to start seeing these discussions finally come to fruition. But there is still a long way to go, and one of the conclusions drawn by the organisers was that although LTE may be inevitable, it is a complementary technology rather than a replacement…for the next decade at least.

Take a look at our video from the event, including Moti’s take on the hot topics within the public safety communications industry as well as the Singaporean Lions blessing our exhibition stand!

Continuing the theme we will also be exhibiting at CommunicAsia in Singapore in a couple of weeks’ time – so if you happen to be in the neighbourhood then do drop by and see us.
